Hi, my name is Dennis Walsh. I am a photographer based in Park City, Utah. This story is about my lifelong journey to learn a craft. When you start out you don’t think about that…but it really is a journey…and I am still learning!

I had just left home for the first time…leaving sunny California to attend the University of Notre Dame, in South Bend, Indiana. It was an amazing…larger than life experience. I wandered the campus in awe and suddenly felt inspired to photograph my experience. Soon the camera and I became one…and we still are!

In college, I volunteered as a campus newspaper photographer and spent 2 years studying with famous Life Magazine portrait photographer Richard Stevens. I was hooked. Photographing people has been my passion ever since.

At graduation I received my Air Force commission and began a 6 year tour of duty. I was a pilot – flying missions around the world. My photography went with me and I continued to grow as a photographer…often working in my free time with Master Photographer Tommy Connell.

After leaving the Air Force I began flying for American Airlines. I stayed for 34 years. It was during my early years at American that the Air Traffic Controllers strike grounded the airlines for a time…and me in the process. Newly married, I felt I needed a safety net so, in 1982 I opened my first studio in Dallas, Texas. My studio grew and my client base extended well outside of Texas. Before I knew it I was balancing two careers – flying and photography.

During my years in Texas, I was privileged to work closely with renowned Dallas photographer Bob Mader. We served a great cross-section of the Dallas community, including acting as official photographers at the famous Mansion on Turtle Creek. My Texas clients were (and still are) amazing folks!

Over the years I have committed myself to becoming the best photographer I can be. I have studied with a cross section of the worlds finest photographers. Each year I devote several weeks to professional study and private workshops. Studying with the best inspires me and brings me a constant flow of new ideas to keep my work fresh.

In 1991, my family and I relocated to Park City, Utah – a dream come true! For the last 25 years we have continued to focus our attention on photographing people. Here, we are best known for our work with families, children and business professionals. We have a beautiful studio with spectacular grounds but we also spend a great deal of time photographing clients in their homes and many of the special places surrounding Park City.

I have been happily married to my wife, Sherry, for 34 years. We have one son, Kevin, 29, who comes and goes as he lives his dream of working in Major League Baseball. After three years working for the Boston Red Sox, he has moved west and now works for the Los Angeles Dodgers!

I am passionate about life, my family, photography, aviation, cycling, travel, education, and community service. I am honored to be a member of the Park City Sunrise Rotary Club. I am a wanna-be piano player too!

OK…enough about me! I am flattered you wanted to know more…but frankly, I am much more interested in you…and how we can help you.
